South East Essex Tankers

South East Essex Tankers (SETS) specialise in the cleaning of tankers using state of the art cleaning and waste water systems. For each tanker they clean, they are required by law to produce an ECD certificate to show exactly what was in the tanker, how and when it was cleaned and this forms the basis of an audit trail for their customers.

Having struggled with paper systems for years Atlas was contacted to create a Windows application which would serve as a customer relationship database and allow operatives with little time working in a hazardous environment the ability to produce ECD certificates. Atlas produced a very easy to use application with an interface that is compatible with touch screens to avoid the need for a keyboard and mouse. Operators can now log and produce certificates with ease and a permanent record of all tankers cleaned is always available for audit purposes.

Following the success of the new system, SETS contacted Atlas to ask us to create a website that would allow customers of theirs to log in, search for and download certificates online. For this we set up Microsoft SQL replication from the local database running the Windows application to a web hosted server and created a web based application using ASP.Net MVC.

Project Highlights

• SETS are now so far ahead of the regulatory requirements that their competitors are actively seeking them out to speak with them about their new systems
• Customer satisfaction has increased due to the transparency of the new system that allows customers to see exactly what work has been carried out on their tankers
• SETS are now investigating the possibility of going in to partnership with Atlas to resell the application to a wider market
